A saturated magenta field carries a dense horizontal band of near-black across its upper third, left to bleed downward into the colour beneath. Two narrow orange channels descend the left and right margins. At the lower edges the pink breaks open into passages of blue, teal and green, traces of the layers the surface was built from and then partly withheld.

The paint is thin and pulled vertically, so the image reads as something in the act of settling, or draining. The title works against that motion. Hold Still asks for an arrest the surface will not grant: the pigment keeps moving, keeps descending, even as the colour holds its charge.
